(Presto disponibile in italiano)

An INFORMAL source of information for changes along the Adriatic coasts of Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy. I shall include official information concerning lights, etc., as and when I find it, but the main thrust of this page will be for the recreational anchorer (new mooring buoys, restaurants, problems etc.) You are invited to participate! Send all details to 'info-at-comoy.com' (replacing '-at-' with @). Naturally, no responsibility will be accepted for incorrect information, etc., etc.

This page is offered in association with:

Magnamare
www.magnamare.com

the members of
Società Triestina della Vela
http://www.stv.ts.it/

Magnamare are publishers of the most recent pilot book for Dalmatia available in English, Italian and German. They also offer a pubication with 1000 waypoints for the area and a photographic pilot. The latter two are in Italian only, but the waypoint book, at least, is self-explanatory. Check out their site for details.

The STV is one of the oldest and most active sailing clubs of Trieste. Its members are active cruisers locally and far afield (including a trip around the world).

The new marina is now operational. The pontoons now open are in the southern area, although it is expected the whole will be ready by 2006. The reception area will include a 5-star hotel, bar, restaurant and congress centre. 'Nuff said! Next to the marina, there is a new fuelling point with three pumps and 100m-long quay for at least six boats at a time. Prices are high.

3 September 2005

Island of Brac (Brazza), Bol
43°15.55N 16°39.40E

There are five moorings with electricity and water on the eastern side of the inner quay. The central part of the quay has also been refurbished and there will soon be about ten moorings. However, the swell can be offputting.

"

Hvar (Lesina), northern coast, Vela Stiniva
43°09.55N 16°48.70E

A new road now links this bay to the other villages; it is possible to call a taxi, with Hvar town itself just a relatively cheap 10 minutes away.

"

Hvar (Lesina), northern coast,
Vrboska
43°10.55N 16°41.20E

On the north side of the inlet, shortly before the entrance to the harbour, there is a 150m-long quay. At the centre, depth of 1.5m, at either end, 1.2m. Mooring in tiers. Three metres off the quay, the depth easily exceeds 2m.

"

Hvar (Lesina), northern coast
Jelsa
43°10.05N 16°42.10E

The northern side of the port has been fitted with laid moorings, water and electricity, with about 30 moorings now available.

"

Hvar (Lesina), Sucuraj
43°07.40N 17°11.80E

A new wooden quay about 60m long has been erected for boats in transit. Currently, one lies alongside but laid moorings are planned. Water and electricity are already available. On the eastern side of the quay, traffic generated by the ferry can be bothersome.

"

Hvar (Lesina), southern coast, Mrtinovik
43°06.80N 17°05.90E

The fine pine woods have been destroyed by fire, and there is a large fish farm in the south-eastern corner of the bay.

"

Hvar (Lesina), southern coast, Sv. Nedjelja
43°08.00N 16°3510E

The quay has been repaired and a 3m-high wall built to protect the inner part of the little harbour.

"

Hvar (Lesina), southern coast, Dubovica
43°08.55N 16°32.00E

Here too, alas, the pine woods have gone up in smoke.

Hvar (Lesina), southern coast, Milna
43°09.45N 16°28.95E

Lots of ugly new buildings have been built...

Korcula (Curzola)
Racisce (Porto Bufalo)
42°58.75N 17°01.10E

There's a new restaurant (Konoba Natura). The small pier in front has a depth of 1.5m at the end. 14 August is the local holiday and the noise goes on until dawn - on the plus side, there's plenty of free fried fish and beer at low cost!

27 July 2005
(Marco Costantin)

Dugi Otok (Isola Lunga)
Veli Rat
44°09.35N 14°50.80E (Marks entrance to Pantera bay)

"

Vele Srakrane (Canidole grande)
44°33.45N 14°20.70E
(southern tip of island)

A pier has been built on the eastern coast just to the south of the little church. It is about 40m long and 10m broad. 5m depth at the head and 4m on either side. Only safe in good weather as it is rather exposed. This is the only usable mooring on the island.

"

Silba (Selve)
44°21.25N 14°41.90

30 new swinging moorings have been laid in the northern part of the bay, and 7 more in the southern part. This is now the safest anchorage in the island. The photo shows the southern part of the bay.

"

Lavdara
45°56.80N 15°11.50 (northern tip of island)

Skrovada bay on the south side offers good holding in 5m, protected from northern sector. There is a summer cottage on the eastern side of the bay.

More to follow within a few days!

Note: Placenames are given, where possible, in Croatian or Slovene and Italian (in brackets). This is simply for the greater comprehension of all and should not be seen as attempting to make any political point. As I do not have a Slav font installed (and possibly or probably nor do you), Slav accents have been omitted. Oprostite!
